The Niti Aayog under its Atal Innovation Mission has shortlisted 6 institutions to receive 10 cr each for the promotion of start-ups in India. These were winnowed down from 232 applications.
The 6 selected institutions are:
-
The Bio-Incubator at C-CAMP affiliated to NCBS, Bangalore
-
NIT-Trichy’s TREC-STEP
-
Amrita University’s Technology Business Incubator
-
IIM-Bangalore’s NSRCEL
-
91Springboard, a multi-city co-working space
-
Access Livelihoods Consulting India, a social enterprise
While the first four are typical choices, the last two are interesting. 91Springboard is a for-profit co-working space that also incubates startups and ALC India does a lot of ‘social consultancy’ but also incubates startups. It will be interesting to see how these different groups use this money and the patterns of investment.
